another case of mistaken identity

i am at dan's parents' house now in preparation for rosh hashanah dinner... i am sitting here with dan's mom and i was just telling her dan's case of mistaken identity, only to find out that she too had a similar experience-- she was being confused with a speaker or writer of manuscripts, in florida. her response was something like "i am not the fran you think i am, i am not a writer and i live in the northeast".

like mother like son, i guess.

happy new year to all!

a case of mistaken identity

dan and i were just discussing an email that was sent out to the residents of our condos about noise.  he claimed to have not received it (it turns out he had not checked his email since it was sent) but told me he received a message about the garage door opener-- mind you, we don't have a garage door.  he then reminded me that he's been getting emails for a different condo association-- somewhere in Canada actually-- for the past 3 months.  apparently they have the email addresses wrong so he's on the list.  he keeps trying to get removed from the list, telling these people they have the wrong dan-- and they don't believe him! they just keep emailing him.  so we were thinking that when people see the intended dan walking around they must give him dirty looks, because the unintended dan continues to ask to be removed from the list on the grounds he does not live there.  they must think this guy is crazy.  meanwhile on this end, it's annoying but also hilarious.

a fall saturday

we got pumpkins.
we went climbing.
and this time the pretzels were a success.

i agree.

i really like this post, especially this part:

Passion = Authenticity: When you are passionate, everything you do becomes truly real.

baby blanket

i knit this blanket for a friend's new baby. it needs a bit of finishing but you get the gist...
i cannot decide what to do for the border-- if it needs one at all...

it is based off of this design, from purlsoho-- found here.

deliberately vague

i don't even know what to say.

i'm going to be deliberately vague here. i am not a joke! treat me seriously. i show up... shouldn't you, too? i can tell "start" apart from "finish".

ok that's it.

short sleeves

the shirts are successful. note the smile.

stay tuned

recently dan took 2 long-sleeved dress shirts to the dry cleaners, and beyond just getting them cleaned, he asked the cleaners to tailor the shirts so that they will be short-sleeved shirts-- these shirts in particular had developed holes in one of the elbows. if possible we will pick them up today. yesterday, however, dan raised a good point: how do they know how short to make the sleeves? is there a standard short-sleeve length proportion based on the size of the shirt? what if they end up too long? or too short-- muscle tee style?

photo to follow later when we see the finished result.

2 part post

1. today i saw the new iPod nanos in the store... they are cool but i somehow felt i was going to break it when i attempted the "shuffle via shake" motion.

2. in search of specific craft items, today we went to both Michael's and A.C. Moore. i'm continually amazed by the fact that no matter which branch of either of these chain stores you go to, there are punk teenagers working there-- more often guys than girls. i mean, seriously, look next time you go if you haven't noticed this. i think i always end up at the checkout counter having my merchandise scanned by a 16 year old guy with dyed black hair, at least 1 visible tattoo, those earrings through his ears such that i can see daylight on the other side (i'm sure they have a name) and/or eyeliner. what about Michael's or A.C. Moore is so attractive to these characters? i am not sure i'll ever know.

look at the pretty colors!

have you seen these yet? i have not seen them in person... but they look cool.  those apple people are genius.  we are so sucked into consumerism.  one of my co-workers mentioned he will get one so i hope to see it soon.  i do have a few concerns, though:

1.  what happens if you're running?  naturally the iPod shakes... does it randomly shuffle songs?
2. with all these colors, and the trends these days... where is the brown one? shouldn't they make a brown iPod?

cheesy cookies

recipe extracted from the family archives.... mmm!

CHEESY COOKIES

1 stick margarine
10 oz. extra sharp shredded cheddar (yellow is prettier)
1 cup sifted all purpose flour
1-1/2 cups slightly crushed corn flakes

have margarine and cheese soften to room temperature
blend and then mix in flour until well blended
lightly mix in corn flakes
form into small balls and place on cookie sheet
flatten with fork (not too flat)

bake 350 degrees, about 15 minutes
cool and store in covered container in refrigerator
makes about 60 cheesy cookies

words

i like random blog posts.

i really like using the word "aforementioned" in emails or memos. i just realized how much i like it when i just wrote an email to our code consultant.

i hope he appreciates it. i also hope you enjoyed the aforementioned randomness (ok fine so that wasn't great but i tried. it was great in the email)
