happy

wow, this week went by really fast! exam, flight, trip, home, work, more work... it's finally getting to be nice weather outside, which is most excellent. i think everyone is just in a better mood in the sunshine!

what are the odds

pass, so back to the crag for us! again, we hiked iso here we are in las vegas... it's excellent, except for the teeny tiny fact that it's really cold and has been on and off pouring rain-- yes, i'm serious. today we went to Red Rock Canyon to climb. the area is absolutely beautiful! it was a bit cold this morning, but we hiked in anyway, and MOMENTS before we started to climb it began to pour cold rain. seriously. so we left to go to the Red Rock Casino, which was fun, but not what we had planned. i played in a giant game of BINGO! i did not win but it was still very fun and i must admit i am tempted to go find another game of bingo... then we realized the weather had cleared up and we had already bought the day pass to the park, so we headed back-- this time to a different area-- and i get all suited up to lead. dan cautions me that i have maybe, oh, 10 minutes until this ominous cloud comes rolling in. yeah, that was enough to freak me out, so i basically epic-ed a 5.7 sport climb as it began to slightly rain, and get really windy. probably didn't help that we didn't exactly know where the route ended... but i live to tell! we made it out, again very wet and cold, but happy none the less-- it's just nice to be on vacation. i hope the weather will warm up tomorrow, because we're going to try the cliffs one more time!!

a sigh of relief

yesterday when i got to work i walked in the office at the exact time when the bloopers scene in the office movie has my "dreamweaver" scene... i'm an extremely minor celebrity in my own world.

my head is pounding but i have to keep reminding myself that it's so close to friday...

another year

today i had my annual review at work... it went really well, which is cool. i felt pretty confident, and i got positive feedback. at the end of the day i met with one of my students from this semester so she could use my office's large format color scanner to document her drawings. apparently rich told both she and i that he intentionally placed her as my student, as he thought we would get along. i could see pieces of myself in her throughout the semester, and then today after we left my office, she was chatting about her summer plans, and i swear it was an echo of me several years ago... i'm really going to miss having her in my class. i finally realized today that i really want her to do well because of this similarity-- i hope that didn't come out wrong. seriously, though, it's like i want to warn her of things, and encourage her to try things, and i just want her to be great, without her thinking i'm creepy for having an interest in her well-being. :)

today i wore a yellow button down shirt, dark blue jeans, and brown shoes to work... so did someone else i work with, who just so happens to be a 6'4" guy i work with... i don't know how i feel about it.

another busy week to come-- but there's light at the end of the tunnel (i hope)-- vegas on friday! hooray for memorial day weekend!
