shout out
i like it when something triggers my memory-- a scent, or a song, reminiscent of another time. for example, i was listening to the indigo girls a bunch a few months ago and it reminded me of high school... and currently (this minute!) i am listening to ben folds-- specifically, "annie waits"-- it takes me back to moving to boston 7 years ago and going to see his show somewhere on landsdowne street with kim and tracy (hi, if you're reading!)-- i'll post a picture later.
those were simpler times. it makes me smile.

tomato
after transplanting tomato, the leaves became wilted... i am afraid we scared the poor plant. i am hoping that water, miracle gro, and sunlight will do the trick to bring tomato back to full spirits!

and another thing
will this be good?
let me know if you get the sundance channel, and i'll come over. i will bring a snack for us to share.
make it work
who is watching project runway this season? last week i had a conversation with my mom about the fact that it is not that good this season... which i find disappointing on a number of levels, one of which is the fact that my mom is actually watching the whole season from the start and it's just not that good. don't worry, though, this won't stop me from watching... in 7 minutes!
also on an entirely unrelated note i am obsessed with PhotoBooth on my new computer-- especially enjoying the fish-eye effect, and the 4 pictures. i wonder if it will get old.

wii and blueberries
yes, it was a good few days. dan and i enjoyed a rowdy game of 4 player wii tennis at tobias and tessa's place. totally great. only a few unintentional physical hits with the wii remotes. today we went climbing in rumney and on the way back, we picked our own blueberries! we left after picking just one pint but i was impressed with the couple who showed up at the same time as us and left with at least 3 pints. it was clear to see they had more experience picking blueberries. we are still happy with our crop.

just picked
this morning, yellow tomato left the vine-- i plan to purchase the appropriate accoutrements to accompany yellow tomato in a tasty salad tonight. i sure hope it is delicious, as this is our only successful vegetable! a pepper fell down and broke open before ripening.

hello
hello reader(s). here is a wrap-up of my weekend: friday i took a half day at work so i cram for my general structures exam, which i took saturday-- i hope i passed! i felt ok about it-- i have to say the room was too hot and i ended up kind of bailing on a few questions at the end, so i hope it didn't kill me... we spent saturday night in RI with dan's parents and grandma who was in town from AZ-- it was nice and relaxing and quite awesome to watch some Olympic swimming in HD on their awesome TV! sunday we all went to Mystic, CT for an outdoor art fair, then an early dinner at Mystic Pizza 2-- yum! dan also got the idea to bring home a mystic pizza so we'll get to eat one tonight, too!
i'm totally jazzed about the Olympics but i have to say our TV doesn't really hold a candle to HD... oh well. i have a feeling i'm going to have to be ok with not studying for my next (and final?!?!) exam for the next week or so while i enjoy the games!

shh... guess who?
i just realized i've been subconsciously trying to guess people's footsteps at work-- i hear someone coming and i try to guess who it is. then i sort of silently reward myself when i am right... as i just was a few moments ago. i think i've been doing it because i like puzzles. also because i often get "accused" of approaching silently-- partially due to the fact that i usually wear flats, and partially because climbing has taught me the importance of having quiet feet.

are you wearing hot pink?
yesterday and then again today i spent some time with my college friend jessi who was in town for a work conference. it was a healthy and much needed friend visit... i decided it would be good to hang out rather than cram for my structures exam since jessi always did well in structures... i figured she might wear off on me. i think it may have worked: jessi and her coworker took a cab to meet me after work today, and she called when she arrived... i spotted her and told her to walk ahead to the side of the park where i was seated, and she said "ok i think i see you, are you wearing hot pink?" to which i replied, "yes, are YOU wearing hot pink?" we had managed to wear nearly identical shirts! amazing! i think she definitely started to wear off on me... now, if only i could solve the forces in a truss...

race

i know i'm not a really fast bike rider, but today a runner made me feel especially slow. i was riding my bike home from the gym, and i decided to go the *slightly* longer way, and ride on the bike path. i had my music on and i was riding along, and suddenly i heard this slight panting... sure enough a runner was fast approaching! i rode faster. he ran faster. and then... he passed me. i felt like a jackass.
